Description Innovation in Language Learning and Teaching de Pornapit Darasawang:

How does innovation in language teaching come about? This book covers the ways in which new developments in areas of language teaching practice, such policy-making, planning, methodology and the use of educational technology spread globablly and are adopted, rejected or adapted locally. By looking at the drivers, stakeholders, obstacles and affordances in one specific context - Thailand in the case of this book - it is possible to gain a deeper insight into the ways in which change processes occur. This will help anyone involved in language development, from curriculum reform to materials development, and from programme evaluation to the setting of assessment standards. The chapters in this book cover all aspects of language education in Thailand, from the primary to tertiary levels in both private and public education, as well as innovations at local, regional and national levels. The book will be of particular interest to those involved in managing change in language education that attempts to mediate between global trends and local priorities. Pornapit Darasawang is Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) in Thailand and the Director of Studies of the PhD programme in Applied Linguistics at KMUTT. She has been involved in teacher training and has given lectures and workshops in the areas of self access learning and qualitative research. Her areas of interest are learner autonomy, learner training, and motivation in language learning. She has published widely in journals and books in these areas. Dr. Hayo Reinders (www.innovationinteaching.org) is Professor of Education and Head of Department at Unitec in New Zealand and Dean of the Graduate School at Anaheim University in the United States. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the journal 'Innovation in Language Learning and Teaching'. Hayo's interests are in educational technology, learner autonomy, and out-of-class learning and his most recent books are on teaching methodologies, digital games, and second language acquisition. He edits a book series on 'New Language Learning and Teaching Environments' for Palgrave Macmillan.
